Yr offers a range of weather modules that can easily be integrated into your own websites and publishing systems. This makes it possible to display updated weather information directly from Yr on third-party websites. These modules can easily be embedded into regular websites and publishing tools, and come in various formats – such as maps, lists, and meteograms.
👉 You can find the modules here: yr.no/en/widget
How to add a weather module
Step 1: Choose a module
- Map modules – display weather data as animated map layers
- List modules – e.g., lists of the warmest places in Norway or in a specific county
- Other modules – Messages from meteorologists, meteogram, 24-hour forecast, or 8-day forecast for specific locations
Step 2: Customize the module
After selecting a module, you can make various adjustments:
For map modules:
- Choose the map area by panning and zooming
- Adjust the module’s height and width
- Set the desired playback speed and time interval for the weather forecast
- View guide lines on the map showing how the module will appear on desktop and mobile
- You set the map area directly in the map view by zooming in and out. The map also has dashed guide lines indicating how the selected area will appear on desktop and mobile.
For list modules:
- Select a geographic area from a dropdown menu
- The lists can display, for example, the highest temperatures in Norway or within a specific county
For weather forecast modules:
- Search for the desired location or enter coordinates
- The system will generate weather data for the selected area
Copy and paste the code
When you’re satisfied with the preview:
- Click Show code
- Copy the generated code snippet or link
- Paste it into your preferred publishing tool, website, or embed field
The module will now appear on your website, automatically updated with weather information from Yr.
